No temper tantrums, everybody helpin' each other, sharin'--the unspoken message is "we are not about to give into fear or pouting."

Like Moi, when I gits home from a trip, I'se So happy to be home--thar' ain't no place like this place.

Great post, La Diva CAunty Bellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13868780211706866610noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-144661459282727040.post-21022750405094992162011-09-14T15:05:27.362-04:002011-09-14T15:05:27.362-04:00Thank you, Moi and Velva, for your kind comments. ...Thank you, Moi and Velva, for your kind comments. I adore this country and everything it stands for, even if on occasion I want to bitch slap our government silly. This was our darkest hour, a day of horror beyond belief, but I spent this past Sunday too busy to engage in any of the memorials. Nothing seemed quite right, either. Your story, though, this got me. And Jill, you read the whole thing...Thank you, FC!

And Jill, you read the whole thing, even though there was only one picture?! Woo hoo!

Buzzy, I might have made it seem easy because I simplified that part of the story. There are a number of qualifications that the U.S. govt. requires before letting the application proceed. First of all, you have to be from the right country, we only allow so many people from Guatemala, Nigeria, Mexico, and troubled countries. Secondly, you have to have a certain amount of money in your bank account, enough to support yourself and prove it. We also had to have my dad sponsor Felix and show three years of HIS tax returns. Felix passed a medical test and showed no signs of HIV or tuberculosis, he would be fit to work in America and support himself. And he's educated. And he's married to a U.S. citizen where we had years of photos to prove a "real" union as well as joint bank statements and bills. When you put that all together, you can see why many people DON'T get residency. I would think that if one is illegal, they are from a war torn country or politically repressed or have no means to make decent money back home, if they did, why leave?LaDivaCucinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06000430029590301972noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-144661459282727040.post-2390432929574190502011-09-12T19:36:04.473-04:002011-09-12T19:36:04.473-04:00Your recollection of September 11th is way more de...Your recollection of September 11th is way more detailed than what I remember. And if getting a green card is that easy, than why do we have such an immigration problem?
